A wise old man once said, “There are two types of pain. One that hurts you and the other that changes you.” And I just experienced one kind of positive pain.
It was during the countdown day. It all started when my friends were posting their traveling pictures during countdown day, and I was blessed to be romantically riding on a boat under the brightest sun to conduct an interview on Boeung Tompun Lake.
Surprisingly, it was a blessing in disguise. Yep, It was my very first time to go to the lake and to interview people, so I did enjoy it a lot because I had the chance to witness the life of local people and listen to their stories and concerns about the future of the lake. It was heart-breaking to listen to their story, but it showed me that happiness can be found in every place and time.
Plus, I saw an extra piece of breaking news, behind the scenes, of cops trying to catch a burglar.
Long story short, it was as touching and overriding a gift as I’ve ever given myself for the new year. I have realized that happiness will come in different forms and unexpected turns. Every day is a good day to have a good day. Well, this best memory could not have gone so well without the bad idea suggested by my caring teachers and supportive teammates.
At the time, I wished it was a prank as I didn’t know there was something good waiting for me, until it became a memory.
