Time helps me to overcome obstacles. By nature I am a calm person who dares not to speak a lot. How can I conquer my nature?
Honestly, I would like to share with all of you that now I can speak in front of many people and improve my relations by volunteering with community works. I prefer sharing Buddhist teachings and my experiences to students in the community and talking Dharma to the Buddhist followers in my village. Moreover, I can have more friends by improving my relationship style.
How did I do it?
Fortunately, I started to engage in community work during high school in Siem Reap. That pushed me to develop myself relating to my weaknesses. It is good to know your weaknesses. Volunteering pushed me to speak and connect with others, even though I did not do it well.
Who am I now?
Today, I can speak confidently in front of lots of students in the community, and I can talk Dharma better than before. An important one, I can make connections with more people. I have friends in many provinces. Now I am a student majoring in international relations.
Actually, I learned from many people around me that I worked with, and I often observe their styles of speaking and communicating when I participate in social works. Therefore, I can duplicate their performance and knowledge to improve myself.
Finally, I am very thankful to Buddhism and the community works that caused me to improve my negative actions. I am the son of a farmer, from a poor family, but I never lose motivation. I would like to encourage all of you to participate in community activities, not only share your interests but also develop yourself. You are the result of what you did in the past and the present. We are the result of what we have thought, says the Buddha.
